FINNISH SMARTPHONE STARTUP Jolla will resume taking pre-orders for its Sailfish smartphone on Thursday 19 September.

The Jolla smartphone is based on Sailfish, an open source mobile operating system (OS) with its roots in Nokia's Meego. Jolla announced its intention to sell the handsets in early 2012 and began to deliver on that promise earlier this summer.
Punters were offered a range of deals to get an early investment in the Finnish smartphone technology. That first run has been fully subscribed and the firm is counting down to releasing more units. According to the company it has pre-orders from punters in 136 countries.
